Abstract: Building strong underwater bioadhesion is important for several applications but proved to be an extremely challenging task. In a wet/underwater environment, the water boundary layer hinders interfacial adhesion, which is further undermined by water-induced swelling in bioadhesives. In contrast to current hydrophilic bioadhesives, we here propose an underwater and in-situ applicable hydrophobic adhesive (UIHA). We report polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) tangled with macromolecular silicone fluid as a dissipation phase to provide strong interface adhesion strength. Abstract: A seeding drill includes a plurality of row seeding units for applying seeds and fertilizer to the ground with each mounted for floating movement with a down pressure device. Supply ducts transport the fertilizer and seed separately to each row seeding unit. Each row seeding unit includes a singulation meter, a component for forming a furrow including a first supply tube and a separate second supply tube for supplying material to the ground independently and a supply selection device to control supply of the seeds to the row seeding units. The selection device is arranged in a first singulation mode where the seeds are supplied to the singulation meter for singulated supply to the feed mouth of the first supply tube and in a second non-singulation bulk metered mode where the seeds are supplied to feed mouth of the second side supply tube.

The method comprising the steps of receiving a request to adjust a height of the cutter bar assembly, determining whether a position of a first cylinder is greater than a value, and if it is determined that the position of the first cylinder is greater than the value, using the first cylinder to adjust the height of the cutter bar assembly.

Abstract: A livestock headgate has a pair of gate panels movable between closed and open positions holding an releasing an animal in an exit opening of a livestock chute. Each gate panel, at the inner edge thereof facing the other gate panel, has a respective angled bracing surface for abutting against a respective lateral side of a neck of the livestock animal in the gate's closed position. In a forward direction moving toward a front of the gate that faces outward from the chute, the angled bracing surfaces are of convergent relation to one another, and thus closer together near the animal's head and further apart from one another closer to the animal's shoulders. The angled bracing surfaces help prevent back-out of wide-necked animals from the closed gate, and may be embodied as auxiliary bracing members of an optional add-on kit for a standard head gate.

Abstract: Described herein is a replicative Vesicular stomatitis virus (rVSV) comprising: a first Filoviridae glycoprotein comprising one or more influenza virus matrix 2 ectodomain peptide inserted into the first Filoviridae glycoprotein; and a second Filoviridae glycoprotein comprising a SARS-CoV2 Spike protein peptide inserted into the second Filoviridae glycoprotein, or a first Filoviridae glycoprotein comprising one or more influenza virus matrix 2 ectodomain peptide inserted into the first Filoviridae glycoprotein and a non-functional but immunogenic SARS-CoV2 Spike protein. The Spike protein or Spike protein peptide can be derived from different CoV- 2 variants. The rVSV can be used as a Dual Action vaccine for vaccinating individuals simultaneously against both influenza virus and SARS CoV2 virus.

Abstract: A cutting blade for vegetation is provided for example for use in a straw chopper or rotary mower. The blade body includes a first base material and at least one hard surface bead formed on at least one surface of the base material extending up to a cutting edge of the base material. Beads can be applied longitudinally by the heat energy from the cladding laser system to form pockets so that the blade is serrated by the pockets when supplied with additional wear increasing the pockets to maintain the serrations. The chamfered side face of the blade body forming the cutting edge can also be formed using heat energy from the same laser cutting and cladding system.

Abstract: Weed seeds are destroyed in the chaff from a combine harvester by primary and secondary destructors where the primary feeds to the secondary. The secondary can use repeated high speed impacts caused by a rotor mounted in one of a pair of side by side housings which accelerate the discarded seeds in a direction centrifugally away from the rotor onto a stator including angularly adjustable stator surfaces around the axis. The primary can also use an impact arrangement of a different and simplified structure or can use another destruction modality such as radiation. The primary is mounted at a transfer device including a transverse auger which carries the chaff and weed seeds from the rear of the sieve to the secondary.

Abstract: A combine harvester includes a straw chopper, spreading device and a weed seed destructor (WSD) which acts on the weed seeds in the chaff so as to cause devitalization. The WSD includes a discharge mouth where the WSD causes generation of an air flow which exits through the mouth. The system is operable in two modes where in both the straw is directed to the straw spreading device. In the first mode the chaff is directed into the WSD and in the second mode the chaff is carried past the WSD on a guide surface and is converged inwardly to drop into the air stream from the WSD. In both modes the chaff is spread using the air stream from the WSD at least to the sides either by feeding to the spreading device or by combining with the stream of straw after it leaves the spreading device.

Abstract: A flow meter run offers autonomous operation whilst improving measurement performance & confidence, increased safety and improving the total cost of ownership. A plurality of isolation valve assemblies each offer DBB (Double Block & Bleed) isolation to isolate a component or meter run section. This DBB isolation includes components being extracted from the main metering line. The meter run philosophy is detailed with use of a novel rotational orifice meter, though other flow meters may be substituted. The flow meter run also features extractable filters, a rotational and extractable flow conditioner which includes open and blind isolation components. The rotational orifice meter can house several independent orifice plates or nozzles and extractable sample probes and temperature elements. Further instrument sensors include the direct (non-inferred) measurement of density and/or viscosity. The system is configured for multiple sensors to monitor performance, autonomy, validation and isolation.
