Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method and apparatus for providing an AM policy for a UE in a wireless communication system. The disclosure is applicable to apply a consistent policy to a UE in a system in which 4G and 5G networks co-exist. According to the disclosure, a BS in a wireless communication system may include a transceiver, and at least one controller coupled to the transceiver. The at least one controller may be configured to determine handover for a UE based on a communication state of the UE, transmit a handover request message for the UE to an AMF, receive a handover command for the UE from the AMF in response to transmitting the handover request message, and perform a handover procedure with the UE. The handover request message may include information related to a rule used to select a network and a frequency applied to the UE.
