Abstract:
A sample collection device includes a planar sheet of material having opposing edges and a first major surface and an opposing second major surface, the planar sheet of material having at least two fold lines. A porous sample collection media has at least three edges and opposing major surfaces, at least one edge is fixed to the first major surface of the planar sheet of material. The planar sheet of material is configured to form an airflow channel by fixing the opposing edges together, the airflow channel extends from a mouthpiece end to an air outlet end. The porous sample collection media substantially occludes the airflow channel between the mouthpiece end and the air outlet end.
Abstract:

A porous sample collection media is fixed within the housing and along the airflow channel. A mouthpiece end cap is replaceably coupled to the mouthpiece end and an air outlet end cap is replaceably coupled to the air outlet end.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides a sample collection device. The sample collection device includes a housing defining a fluid channel from a first portion to a second portion. The sample collection device further includes a porous sample collection media disposed within the housing and in fluid communication with the fluid channel. The sample collection device further includes a fluid inlet port disposed in fluid communication with the porous sample collection media. The fluid inlet port is configured to direct a test fluid onto the porous sample collection media. The sample collection device further includes an assay configured to receive a fluid that was incident on the porous sample collection media.
Abstract:
A system and methods for multivariant learning and optimization repeatedly generate self-organized experimental units (SOEUs) based on the one or more assumptions for a randomized multivariate comparison of process decisions to be provided to users of a system. The SOEUs are injected into the system to generate quantified inferences about the process decisions. Responsive to injecting the SOEUs, at least one confidence interval is identified within the quantified inferences, and the SOEUs are iteratively modified based on the at least one confidence interval to identify at least one causal interaction of the process decisions within the system. The causal interaction can be used for testing, diagnosis, and optimization of the system performance.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for optimizing a manufacturing process. In one aspect, the method comprises repeatedly performing the following: i) selecting a configuration of control settings for a manufacturing process, based on a causal model that measures causal relationships between control settings and a measure of a success of the manufacturing process; ii) determining the measure of the success of the manufacturing process using the configuration of control settings; and iii) adjusting, based on the measure of the success of the manufacturing process using the configuration of control settings, the causal model.
Abstract:
Systems for optimizing business objectives of e-commerce content can include memory and a processor coupled to the memory. The processor can receive one or more assumptions for multivariate comparison of content. The content can be provided to users of an e-commerce system. The processor can repeatedly generate self-organizing experimental units (SOEUs) based on the one or more assumptions. The processor can inject the SOEUs into the online system to generate quantified inferences about the content. The processor can identify, responsive to injecting the SOEUs, at least one confidence interval within the quantified inferences. The processor can iteratively modify the SOEUs based on the at least one confidence interval to identify at least one causal interaction of the e-commerce content within the system. Other methods and apparatuses are described.
Abstract:
The present disclosure describes a system for providing targeted, temperature regulated therapy to a user. The system includes a convective unit and a forced air controller, with the convective unit including a sleeve for securing to a desired portion of the user's anatomy. The convective unit is fluidly coupled to the forced air controller, which is operable to transport a thermally conditioned air stream to an inflatable chamber in the sleeve. The convective unit receives the air stream, inflates, distributes the typically warmed, pressurized air within the inflatable chamber, and emits the air through one or more air permeable surfaces for convective transfer of heat to the body of the wearer enveloped by the sleeve.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus are disclosed for identifying an above-ground, ground-anchored object, the ground-anchored object being tagged with at least one below-ground electronic marker unit. The method involves providing a remote reader, using the remote reader to interrogate a below-ground volume, to obtain electronic marker data from the electronic marker units, and using the electronic marker data to determine the identity and/or location of the ground-anchored object. Ground anchored objects may include trees, road intersections, or road furniture such as benches, a traffic barriers or signs. The preferred electronic marker unit uses a radio frequency passive transponder. Also disclosed are methods for tagging a ground-anchored object involving burying an electronic marker unit in the ground at a predetermined depth and at a predetermined marker distance from the ground-anchored object.
Abstract:
A marking tape for application on pavement which comprises a core layer and an adhesive layer outside the core layer. The core layer is formed of a combination of a conforming layer of a thermoplastic material, a marking layer of a cross-linked material, and a fibrous layer. The conforming layer and the marking layer are contiguous and/or directly interconnected with each other. The marking tape is preferably relatively light weight and relatively inexpensive.
Abstract:
A method of marking prismatic retroreflective sheeting includes providing prismatic retroreflective sheeting having a front side and a back side, the back side having prismatic features and directing a radiation source at the back side of the prismatic retroreflective sheeting and irradiating a plurality of the prismatic features. The radiation forms a mark in the prismatic retroreflective sheeting.
