The present disclosure describes a system for providing targeted, temperature regulated therapy to a user. The system includes a convective unit and a forced air controller, with the convective unit including a sleeve for securing to a desired portion of the user's anatomy. The convective unit is fluidly coupled to the forced air controller, which is operable to transport a thermally conditioned air stream to an inflatable chamber in the sleeve. The convective unit receives the air stream, inflates, distributes the typically warmed, pressurized air within the inflatable chamber, and emits the air through one or more air permeable surfaces for convective transfer of heat to the body of the wearer enveloped by the sleeve.

A system and/or method for proactively inducing a significant drop in blood pressure during sleep is provided herein. The system includes a blood pressure monitor and a stimulating device that provides stimulation to at least a portion of the person's body. For example, the stimulating device may stimulate a portion of the person's body corresponding to the person's peripheral thermoregulatory control tissue. The stimulation increases or maintains blood flow in the person's glabrous tissue. Additionally, the stimulating device provides stimulation in response to the person's blood pressure being above a predetermined threshold.

Disclosed is a positioning device for use in a compound portable phototherapy device to contain and enhance therapeutic treatment to a subject. The positioning device comprises an inner surface composed of a non-porous, light reflective material, as well as an outer surface that may be opaque. Use of the positioning device in conjunction with a phototherapy device secures advantages of increased incident light directed on a subject and a controlled thermal environment for the subject. The positioning device may be portable and may be pliable, capable of being rolled or compressed. The positioning device may optionally include a visor, venting, and stabilizing cushioning. The positioning device may optionally include a thermal regulation element.

A dry eye treatment device and method of use are disclosed for applying heat to the exterior surface of the eyelid to treat dry eye caused by meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD). More specifically, a user operable main unit and hand piece are provided that allow the user to heat his/her or another patient's eyelids to a desired temperature, which can effectively and efficiently raise the temperature at the meibomian glands to a temperature sufficient to melt, loosen, or soften more serious occlusions or obstructions in the meibomian glands, and restore natural secretory function to obstructed glands.

A system and method for continuously profiling and controlling the temperature of a patient during surgery comprises a flexible substrate comprising a matrix of two or more modules of zero heat flux sensors to measure core temperature. The modules are attached to or embedded within the substrate, which substrate may also comprise temperature sensors, pressure sensors, and/or heating elements. The matrix communicates with a device that processes information from the matrix to continuously provide profiles or maps of core or core and periphery temperatures, so that the operator can decide whether to provide heat to the patient, assess the patient's condition, or determine the effect of anaesthesia. The system may also comprise one or more digital or thermal cameras whose images may be combined with the other information processed.
