    Abstract: Disclosed is a system for deterring criminal activity by providing a visual indication of active surveillance including a time server, a first client device having a first LED and an internal clock, the first client device configured to connect to the time server and synchronize its internal clock with the time server, a second client device having a first LED and an internal clock, the second client device configured to connect to the time server and synchronize its internal clock with the time server, wherein the first client device and the second client device are each configured to be selectively set to a "monitor mode" in which the respective first LEDs of the first client device and the second client device pulse in unison.

    Abstract: Media playback may be controlled or adapted using behavioral player adaptation. The user and the user's physical environment are monitored via sensors. Sensor data representative of relevant user behavior and physical properties of the environment where the user is located is collected, aggregated, and pre-processed to determine the state of parameters of the sensed environment that may be relevant. The pre-processed sensor data is examined to determine the state of user model parameters. Machine learning may be used for the data examination; a neural network is used to learn the key parameters from the pre-processed data that then are used for media playback adaptation and/or control.

    Abstract: In a system for video data capture and sharing client devices may include one or more video cameras and sensors to capture video data and to generate associated metadata. A cloud-based component may receive metadata from the client devices and requests for sharing video data captured by other client devices. The system can be used to implement a ridesharing method to connect a rider to a driver. Information about the driver and rider is accessed when a driver accepts a ridesharing request. Camera devices in the pickup area can detect the license plate of the driver's vehicle to confirm its arrival and a client device in the vehicle can facially recognize the driver at the wheel. Similarly, the location of the rider in the pickup area can be verified, for example through a face recognition scan. Once both driver and rider are verified, they are notified of their presence in the pickup area and linked, for example by identifying the rider in an augmented reality display in the driver's vehicle and by displaying an image of the rider on a side-facing display.

    Abstract: An exemplary method and system is provided for wirelessly accessing video data files stored in the buffer of a client device for playback and scrubbing. When the client device detects a known or trusted mobile device in proximity, it enters a hotspot mode. The hotspot network parameters are provided to the mobile device. In one embodiment, the network parameters include a network ID and password. Using the network parameters, the mobile device joins the hotspot provided by the client device. Once wirelessly networked, the mobile device can request video data from the client device. The client device generates hierarchical playlists and provides them to the mobile device. The mobile device uses the playlists to access video files stored in the buffer of the client device continuously and without interruption. The video files or objects can be listed in a playlist as advertisements to allow continuous playback.

    Abstract: In an ultrasonic tool-guidance system, an imaging module in a housing includes modules for image and beam processing and beamforming. A transmitter and a receiver connect via a switch to a multi-transducer probe. The housing includes a display for providing real-time ultrasound images. The probe includes a tool-guiding channel through which a tool can be inserted into the body of a patient. The transducers are arranged at an angle laterally around the tool -guiding channel. The angled transducers provide overlapping beams that result in a better quality enhanced image of the center area. The probe is rotatably attached to the housing to allow for easy viewing of the ultrasound images during a procedure. The tool-guiding channel is maintained at a fixed angle with respect to the transducers and the probe to assure that the tool remains in the illuminated area throughout the procedure.

    Abstract: A system and a method are disclosed for synchronizing folders between one or more layers of folders.     Abstract: A dashboard attachment device is disclosed for mounting an electronic device within a vehicle. The dashboard attachment device is installed between at least two interior surfaces of a vehicle (e.g., a windshield and a dashboard). The dashboard attachment device may have a wedge shape to fit the intersection between the two interior surfaces. A beam or arm extends away from a base portion of the dashboard attachment device to a mount portion. The mount portion may be used to mount an electronic device that may include one or more sensors directed to the vehicle's environment and/or to position the electronic device in the vehicle operator's field of view to aid the operator (e.g., with navigation). The mount may be interchangeable subject to the interface to the electronic device. The dashboard attachment device may include an adherence point to secure the dashboard attachment device to one or both of the interior surfaces. The shape of the dashboard attachment device may be tapered to minimize its weight and profile. The dashboard attachment device may include cable routing facilities to route a cable between the electronic device to the vehicle's electrical or computer systems.
