Abstract: An optical fiber gyroscope with the combination of low polarization optical path and polarization maintaining optical path is composed of an optical portion and an electrical signal processing portion. The optical portion includes a light source (101), a Y-branching optical waveguide (104), a detector (102), a coupler (103) and an optical fiber coil (105). The light source (101) has low polarization and is coupled by a single mode optical fiber. A single mode optical fiber is used at the input end of the Y-branching optical waveguide (104), and a polarization maintaining optical fiber is used at the output end of the Y-branching optical waveguide (104). The input optical fiber of the detector (102) is a single mode optical fiber. The coupler (103) is a 2´2 single mode optical fiber coupler which is polarization independent. The optical fiber coil (105) is a polarization maintaining optical fiber.
