Abstract: A vector quantizating method includes: obtaining the vector to be quantizated, N-level quantizating the vector to be quantizated, obtaining the residual vector N-level quantizated, in which N is a positive integer; selecting a regulation volume combination from presetting at least two regulation volume combination according to the part or the all of the index number of code books obtained at all levels when the vector to be quantizated is N-level quantizating; obtaining the index number corresponding to the vector to be quantizated according to the selected regulation volume combination. Another vector quantizating method and the vector quantizating device for performing the above two vector quantizating method are provided.
