Abstract: A pulse transformer with shock excitation comprises a primary winding (1) and a coaxial multilayer cylindrical secondary winding (2) mounted on a support insulator and connected to a high-voltage bushing oriented along the axis of the transformer. The support insulator comprises a section composed of cylindrical elements (spacers (4) and layers (5)) and another section composed of flat annular elements (6). The cylindrical elements are oriented coaxially to the secondary winding (2) and serve as interlayer insulation of the secondary winding (2), their thickness and height increasing towards the primary winding (1). The flat annular elements (6) are arranged symmetrically in relation to the axis of the transformer and to the plane which is oriented at right angles to that axis and passes through the center of the secondary winding (2). The diameters of the annular layers (6) are increasing towards the butt-ends of the secondary winding (2) corresponding to the increase of the cylindrical layers so that the section composed of the cylindrical elements contacts with the section composed of the flat annular elements (6) along stepped surfaces (7). The pulse transformer with shock excitation is intended for the use as a power source for charged particle accelerator.

Abstract: A pulse transformer with shock excitation comprises at least two stages, each of them having a primary winding (1, 2) with a condenser (5, 7) and a switching device (6, 8), and a secondary winding (3, 4). The secondary windings (3, 4) are connected in series in all the stages but the last one and are wound up in two parallel conductors insulated from each other, one of those conductors in the first stage being connected to the output of a charging device (11) and another one being earthed, whereas in all the other stages the condensers (7) of the primary windings (2) are connected in parallel between those conductors. The pulse transformer with shock excitation is intended preferably for feeding accelerating tubes.
