Abstract: An improved releasable coupling (31) for a tube (16) is disclosed. The coupling (31) contains a socket with at least four stepped bores. Located within the first bore is a compression means (33) (such as a collar) which has an inner surface inclined to the axis of first bore. A collet is mounted within the compression means (33) and is so configured that, when the collet is caused to move axially outwardly the inclined surface of the compression means (33) causes the jaws of the collet to move radially inwardly. The coupling also contains a tube support (66) located within the body. At least three sealing means are disposed within the second bore (42): a first O-ring (78), a first washer (80), and a second O-ring (82); these sealing means are free to float within the second bore.
