Abstract:
The present invention discloses and claims a method of treating cognition deficits in a patient suffering from schizophrenia by administering to said patient a therapeutically effective amount of a CBl receptor antagonist as described herein. In another aspect, this invention also discloses and claims a combination of one or more CBl receptor antagonists and of one or more antipsychotic agents useful in the treatment of psychiatric disorders . The combination of this invention provides beneficial results in that the combination improves positive and negative symptoms of schizophrenia, while reducing weight gain and catalepsy induced by antipsychotic drugs .
Abstract:
An apparatus (10) and method are disclosed for cooking a foodstuff whereby the foodstuff is placed in the body of the apparatus (10) which is then immersed in boiling water until the foodstuff is cooked. The apparatus (10) includes an elongated tubular body (11) having at opposite ends removable caps (12) and (13). The body (11) and caps (12) and (13) are adapted such that the cooked foodstuff adopts a shape defined by the internal surfaces of the body (11) and caps (12) and (13). An optional feature is the inclusion of a solid tube (91) which is of the same length as the body (11) and is held concentrically within the body (11) by the end caps (12) and (13). This creates a hollow core within the cooked foodstuff in which can be placed second victuals. The cross-sectional shape of the body (11) and tube (91) is determined by the required cross-sectional configuration of the cooked foodstuff and includes circular, square, rectangular, triangular, star-shaped, letters, numerals and symbols. Other optional features include fins (27) fixed to the apparatus to assist its rotation as the foodstuff is being cooked, and various means for supporting the apparatus in use dependent on whether the apparatus is used in a domestic or commercial environment.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses and claims a method of treating cognition deficits in a patient suffering from schizophrenia by administering to said patient a therapeutically effective amount of a CB1 receptor antagonist as described herein. In another aspect, this invention also discloses and claims a combination of one or more CB1 receptor antagonists and of one or more antipsychotic agents useful in the treatment of psychiatric disorders. The combination of this invention provides synergistic results in that the combination improves positive and negative symptoms of schizophrenia, weight gain and catalepsy.
Abstract:
A form of connection between a post and a panel is disclosed. The connection is particularly suitable for use in noise-absorbing barriers which are sometimes mounted in position, adjacent a road or a railway, the panels of which are supported on a plurality of spaced-apart posts. The post carries a formation comprising a vertical arcuate wall and a vertical element spaced therefrom presenting a generally cylindrical exterior wall. The centre of the vertical element is substantially coincident with the centre of curvature of the arcuate wall and there is provided an arcuate channel of substantially uniform width between the vertical element and the arcuate wall. A connecting element carries a substantially semi-circular wall which is dimensioned to be received within the channel. Clamping means are mounted on the post and are adapted to engage the semi-circular wall to clamp the panel in position. The clamping means comprises a wedge arrangement.
