Abstract: A desalinization plant and process utilizes solar radiation to produce steam from seawater which is then used to generate freshwater and electricity. Molten salt or other heat transfer fluid is transported through a heated fluid loop (28) in communication with a concentrated solar power system (22). Heat exchangers (32A, 32B, 32C) provide for heat transfer between the heated fluid loop (28) and a seawater loop (30). A flash tank (33) may be integrated with the heat exchanger. Steam from the flash tank (33) is superheated in the third heat exchanger (32C) and utilized to power the steam turbine (36).

Abstract: A desalinization plant and process utilizes solar radiation to produce steam from seawater which is then used to generate freshwater and electricity. A seawater loop (28) communicates seawater through a concentrated solar power system (22). The seawater loop (28) includes a condense (30) at least one heat exchange (32A, 32B), a steam turbine (34) and an electric generator (36). Steam flashes off from seawater downstream of heat exchange (32B) within a flash tank (33). The steam from the flash tank (33) is superheated in the receiver (24).
