Abstract: The present invention relates to disposable absorbent articles such as baby diapers or sanitary napkins having a breathable yet liquid leakage retarding backsheet. In particular the backsheet comprises an inner and an outer layer which are essentially non-attached to each other. Both layers can be formed of the same or a different breathable material and preferably replace a single breathable material at parity material consumption.
