Abstract: A collapsible and portable device for protecting persons from the elements. The device includes a handle (3) for grasping the device, and a protective canopy joined to the handle (3) via a fastening ring (6) and a set of ribs (11). The ribs (11) are slidable along the handle (3) via a slide ring and the protective canopy is stretched over the ribs (11). The protective device is remarkable in that at least one additional secondary canopy (2) is provided beneath the above-mentioned protective canopy (1) and may be extended by means of a corresponding set of ribs (12).
