Abstract: Various phenol-free phosphites for use in PVC as an alternative to the conventional phenol-containing products phenyl diisodecyl phosphite and diphenyl isodecyl phosphite were teted. These phosphites utilize para-cumyl phenol-based derivatives in order to provide a phenol free derivative of the above mentioned conventional phosphites.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for the production of pentaerythritol diphosphites of high spiro isomer content. The pentaerythritol diphosphites are produced via sequential transesterification of pentaerythritol with a monophosphite followed by a substituted phenol or other alcohol, wherein the transesterification reactions are carried out under controlled conditions of temperature and pressure. The unique reaction conditions result in intermediate and final pentaerythritol diphosphites of high spiro isomer content and high total yield of the diphosphites.

Abstract: This invention relates to processes for making nitro compounds derived from C 2 -C 30 unsaturated fatty acids; C 2 -C 30 unsaturated fatty oils; esters derived from the reaction of C 1 -C 20 alcohols with unsaturated C 2 -C 30 fatty acids; C 2 -C 20 polyolefins; C 4 -C 20 polydiolefins; C 8 -C 20 copolymers derived from polyolefins and vinyl aromatics; and C 4 -C 30 alkylated phenols using nitric acid or gaseous nitrogen dioxide. This class of extreme-pressure additives was found extremely effective in processing steel, stainless steel and special titanium and nickel or low-iron alloys.
