Abstract: A pedestrian, vehicular, or sports playing surface is formed using a relatively thin layer of open fibrous material which is filled with a hardened self setting composition such as cement. The open fibrous material provides a strong reinforcement for the layer allowing it to be used as a top surface for a vehicular or pedestrian way or as an intermediate layer between ground and a top layer of artificial turf when used as a sports playing surface.
