Abstract: The invention concerns a radiant heating element for a cooking area, specially in a glass ceramic plate (4), having an insulated bottom with an annular border (3) in a pot (1). A heating element (6) is mounted in a free space (5) above the insulated bottom (2). The pot (1) has a safety temperature limiter. To achieve a lower switching hysteresis and avoid using a thermobar regulator, a bimetallic switching element (8) serving as safety temperature limiter is provided, lodging a bimetallic element (11) on its housing (9) fixed to the pot (1) on the side facing the free space. On the annular border (3), an opening (20, 24) is provided through which the bimetallic element is thermally coupled directly or indirectly to the free space (5).
