Abstract:
A water resistant article for positioning on an appendage to be treated comprises a knitted body constructed from synthetic yarns is provided, wherein each of the synthetic yarns comprise a bundle of substantially parallel fine monofilaments.
Abstract:
A water resistant light compression and/or retention bandage for retaining an orthopaedic splint, padding or medical device against a body part, includes a knitted fabric formed of synthetic yarns having a moisture vapor transmission rate from an inner face of the bandage to an outer face of the bandage of at least 500g/m 2 per 24 hours.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an undercast liner for being applied to an anatomical shape of a patient and overlaid with a cast material. The undercast liner includes an elongate fabric having two opposing faces and an intermediate spacer area that both separates and interconnects the opposed faces. The liner is constructed at least in part of hydrophobic, water resistant monofilament yarn for providing enhanced water resistance, light weight, breathability and resistance to collapse and degradation due to moisture and bacteria during extended use of the liner. The liner has sufficient stretch in both a length-wise and width-wise direction to facilitate conforming the undercast liner around the anatomical shape without wrinkling during application.
Abstract:
An orthopedic splint utilizing a polyurethane-based chemical system encapsulated in an envelope that hardens to form a splint. The orthopedic splint includes an envelope for containing a first component and a second component of maintained separate from each other within the envelope. A hardened splint is formed by causing the first component and the second component to mix in the envelope.
Abstract:
A medical bandaging product (10) for being dispensed in predetermined lengths suitable for a given medical use, and includes an elongate sleeve (13) formed of moisture-impervious material and sealable to prevent entry of moisture and an elongate medical material (14) positioned in the sleeve and sealed therein against entry of moisture until use. The medical material includes a substrate (16) formed of a single thickness layer formed of first yarns (18). The second yarns (19) are integrated into the single thickness layer of the first yarns. The second yarns are high-strength, high modulus fibers for increasing the strength and dimensionally stabilizing the substrate. A reactive system is impregnated into or coated onto the substrate, the system remaining stable when maintained in substantially moisture-free conditions and hardening upon exposure to sufficient moisture of form a rigid, self supporting structure. A soft, flexible protective wrapping (17) encloses the substrate along its length to provide a cushioning barrier between the substrate and the skin of a patient when the material is in use. A clip (15) or other closure devices is provided for resealing the sleeve against entry of moisture after a predetermined length of the bandaging product has been dispensed for use to prevent hardening of the substrate remaining in the sleeve.
Abstract:
A medical bandaging product in roll form for being dispensed in predetermined lengths and including an elongate sleeve (18) formed of moisture-impervious material and sealable to prevent entry of moisture, and an elongate medical bandage material (16) positioned in the sleeve and sealed therein against entry of moisture until use. The medical bandage material includes a substrate (12) formed from a foam layer (14) and a textile reinforcement layer (14) attached to the foam layer. A reactive system is impregnated into or coated onto the substrate and remains stable when maintained in substantially moisture-free conditions. The substrate hardens upon exposure to moisture to form a rigid splint.
Abstract:
An elastic bandage including an elongate warp-knitted fabric substrate including a lock stitch formed in opposing side edges of the fabric substrate to prevent fraying. The substrate includes a cotton and elastic yarns in a warp direction and weft-inserted yarns in weft direction. The weft-inserted yarns include cotton, with an adhesive coated onto or impregnated into the substrate.
Abstract:
An ankle brace (10), of the type adapted to extend along the lateral and medial aspects of an injured ankle and lower leg for supporting the ankle during healing. A lateral aspects of the ankle and lower leg includes an elongated, rigid support members (13, 14), each having a lower end of sufficiently narrow width and thinness to fit inside a shoe being worn by a wearer of the brace. A soft, flexible perimeter edge portion (15, 16), is to the support members for protecting the leg and ankle from irritation resulting from contact with edges of the support members. A connector (19, 20), connects the medial side support and lateral side support together at their respective lower ends and extend under the foot of the wearer of the brace.
Abstract:
The present invention is a two or more subject retractable leash retractable leash, and methods of use regarding the same, which includes a roll-back feature on the retractable leash. The leashes may be locked in place by engaging a single lever. The leashes retract regardless of whether the spools are locked or unlocked. The leashes retract independently of the other leashes, such that a dual leash may be used to walk one subject.
Abstract:
A fabric substrate suitable for lining between a cast and a person. The fabric substrate includes a pair of opposing faces formed by pillar and inlay stitches. The fabric is constructed at least in part of hydrophobic, water-resistant yarns configured to provide enhanced water resistance and sufficient stretch in both a length and width direction to facilitate conforming the undercast liner around the anatomical shape without wrinkling during application. An intermediate tying layer spans between the opposing faces, and the tying layer includes elastic yarns stitched in a V stitch pattern such that the elastic yarns extend between one opposing fabric face and the other face.
