Abstract:
It is disclosed a device and a method wherein a wheel (1) having a hollow hub (2) is clamped by means of hub clamps (3-1, 3-2) on opposite sides (S1, S2) of the hollow hub (2). A drawbar (4) is moved out through a hole (5; 6) in the one hub clamp (3-1; 3-2) at the one hub side (S1; S2) and the hollow hub (2) through a corresponding hole (6; ) in the opposite hub clamp (3-2; 3-1), where after clamping means (CM) are provided on the drawbar (4). Then the clamping means (CM) at the other hub side (S2; S1) are locked on the drawbar (4), and the drawbar (4) is moved back in with the clamping means (CM) locked thereon thereby clamping the hollow hub (4) between the opposite hub clamp (3-2; 3-1) at the other hub side (S2; S1) and the one hub clamp (3-1; 3-2) at the one hub side (S1; S2) which tensions the drawbar (4).
Abstract:
The invention relates to an apparatus for measuring the tension of spokes mounted in a wheel, comprising a holder for securing the wheel such that it is rotatable, tapping means for generating the vibration characteristically occurring in tensed spokes moving along a path, and sensor means. The sensor means are able to detect the vibration of a spoke moving past said sensor means.
Abstract:
It is described a method of making holes in a first plate (1) and in a second plate (2) situated at a distance from the first plate (1). The method comprises the steps of punching a hole (h1) in the first plate (1) by means of a punch nipple (5); punching a concentric part (CP) which includes the hole out of the first plate (1); punching a hole (h2) in the second plate (2) by means of the punch nipple (5); and pushing the punched out concentric part (CP) onto the hole (h2) into the second plate (2). This results in increased strength and stress characteristics especially around the hole (h2) in the second plate (2), which in turn may result in material savings, especially if the method is applied to a hollow rim of a wheel which is to be provided with spokes by means of spoke nipples attached to the rim.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device and method for straightening spoked wheels which comprise a hub sleeve (16) with an axle (20), and a rim (14), and spokes (12) betweeen the rim and the hub sleeve, with nipples (13) which can be screwed onto the spokes. The device has an axial clamp (6, 19) for clamping the axle (20), the axial clamp being provided with rotation means (25, 29) for rotating the axle (20) with respect to the rim (14).
Abstract:
The invention concerns a method of placing a tyre (28) round a rim (27) clamped on a turn table (2) wherein part of the tyre's circumference is placed between the rim's legs and wherein the tyre, in relation to the rim, is clamped by means of a tyre vice (30). The invention also concerns a tyre placing apparatus (1) for carrying out the method.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of making nipple holes or similar holes in a double-walled wheel rim having an inner wall positioned radially inward and outside of that an outer wall. The holes are made by punching by means of a punching tool provided with a cutting edge whereby the cutting edge is moved successively through the outer wall and the inner wall of the wheel rim and a punch die supporting the inner wall. The invention encompasses also an apparatus for the application of this method.
Abstract:
There is disclosed a tensioning machine comprising means by which a spoke wheel provided with spokes to be tensioned between the wheel hub and the rim thereof, which spokes are provided with rotatable rim moving elements, is placed in the tensioning machine, fixing means by which the position of the wheel hub is fixed after the spoke wheel has been placed in the tensioning machine, driving means connected to the spoke wheel for rotating the spoke wheel, a control system for the tensioning machine, drivable spoke tensioning means connected to the control system, which spoke tensioning means can be connected to the rim moving elements, and measuring sensors connected to the control system, which measuring sensors are arranged for measuring any lateral and/or vertical deviation of the spoke wheel at least at the location of the rim. The control system is arranged for correcting the spoke tension in the spoke wheel on the basis of controlled - non-torque dependent - rotation of the rim moving elements and/or the spoke tensioning means.
