Abstract: A golf ball washer (12) feeds wet balls into an air moving transport mechanism that dries the balls as they are carried to one of a number of dispensers (10). The wet balls move by gravity down an inclined infeed chute (20) to a load station where each ball is supported on a flow disrupting ramp (25), and the transport conduit includes a necked down area (20) at the load station which cooperates with the ramp (25) to disrupt the air flow thereby avoiding the tendency of a spherical golf ball to remain suspended in the column of air rather than being moved downstream through the conduit (22). Each dispenser (10) has an intermittently driven drum (50) with radially outwardly open pockets (50a) to provide predetermined numbers of balls to a basket (60) at the discharge station of the dispenser (10).

Abstract: An apparatus for automatically setting a golf ball on a tee includes an escapement mechanism (18) to isolate a single golf ball (12) from a plurality of golf balls, a chute (20) to channel a golf ball from the escapement mechanism to the tee (14), and means to raise and lower the chute from alignment with the tee to allow a ball to roll into an opening in the platform (26) that the golfer stands on. A motor (32) drives a pulley (42) and chain (44). A cable (56) is pivotally attached to the chain and to the escapement. Rotation of the motor translates into linear movement of the cable, raising or lowering the tee. A helical coil spring (34) may be imposed between the cable and the chute.

Abstract: A batting system wherein the ball hopper is located proximate a batting position and a pitching machine (14) is located at a pitching position with a ball transport system for conveying baseballs from the ball hopper (112) to the pitching machine (14). The system provides for the continuous operation of the pitching machine without the need of an operator to approach the pitching machine (14).
