Abstract: A three-point force sensor for attachment to a flexible structure (3) such as a cable to measure or monitor the load or force applied to said flexible structure (3). The sensor includes two shear-actuated strain gauge half bridges (31 and 33) built into the sensor body (1) and forming a whole bridge directly connected to a conditioner (19) built into the sensor.

Abstract: A tensile force sensor consisting of a generally ring-shaped deformation cell (1) comprising an upper attachment point (11) and a lower attachment point (13) linked by two branches (15 and 17). Two arms (23 and 25) are substantially perpendicular to the tensile force exerted along an axis (19) passing through the two attachment points (11 and 13). The lengths of the arms (23 and 25) are selected so that the facing portions (23A and 25B) of the arms do not touch each other until the stress limit has been reached. Said arms (23 and 25) have sufficient mechanical strength to prevent permanent deformation of the deformation cell (1) and respectively house a micro-switch (31) and a contact stop (32) whereby said micro-switch (31) generates a signal when it touches the stop (32).
