Abstract:
A connector system including a sensing mechanism that can be used to control signal distribution through the connector system is disclosed. The connector system may include a first connector and a second connector configured to be operatively engaged in both a mated condition and an interlocked condition. The connectors of the connector system include conductive contacts that complete a conductive connection when the connectors are in the mated condition. The connector system includes a fastening mechanism that provides an interlocked condition following mating of the connectors, and may further include a sensor and a sensor trigger that may be used to sense the connection status of the system. The sensor may connected to a controller, with the controller controlling signal distribution through the connector system dependent on the connection status determined by the sensing mechanism. A method for controlling signal distribution through a connector system is also provided.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses are provided for facilitating channel sounding for multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) transmissions between an access terminal and an access point. According to one feature, the access point may transmit a data frame to an access terminal using a plurality of spatial streams and a plurality of antennas. The access terminal may transmit an acknowledgement frame back to the access point, where the acknowledgement frame is transmitted as both a sounding signal and as to acknowledge receipt of the data frame. According to another feature, the access point may transmit a data frame and a matrix request frame to an access terminal. The access terminal may determine channel matrix information, and may send the channel matrix information together with an acknowledgement frame back to the access point.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods for communicating and applying training sequences are described herein. For example, provided is a method for generating a short training field (STF) sequence comprising thirty two values or less. The STF sequence can include a first subset of values including zero and non-zero values. The non-zero values can be located at indices of the first subset that are at least a multiple of two, and can be a multiple of four. The STF sequence includes a second subset of zero values that can include all values not included within the first subset. The method further includes transmitting a data unit comprising the STF sequence over a wireless channel. In another example, a method is provided that includes generating a long training field (LTF) sequence comprising thirty two values or less, and transmitting a data unit comprising the LTF sequence over a wireless channel.

Abstract:
Calibration coefficients are combined to provide more robust calibration. In some implementations, calibration coefficients are generated by acquiring two or more sets of calibration coefficients that are associated with different periods of time, different receive devices, or some other condition. These different sets of calibration coefficients are then combined using maximal ratio combining or some other suitable technique. The resulting combined calibration coefficients are used to calibrate implicit channel estimates.
Abstract:
A method for generating a Physical Layer Convergence Protocol Packet Data Unit (PPDU) having a preamble and a payload for television white space transmission (TVWS) is provided. The symbols of the PPDU each include 128 total (orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing) OFDM tones or 256 total OFDM tones. The preamble includes a signal (SIG) field symbol having 108 OFDM data tones if the symbols of the PPDU include 128 total OFDM tones or having 234 OFDM data tones if the symbols of the PPDU include 256 total OFDM tones. The SIG field symbol indicates at least one of an amount of data in the payload or a length of time that the PPDU will occupy the television broadcast frequency spectrum. The PPDU is generated by down-clocking an 802.11ac signal by a factor so that the bandwidth of the PPDU decreases down to one appropriate for use in a TVWS channel.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure propose transmitting a feedback message to an access point. The feedback may comprise a beamforming extension field, which may carry per tone signal to noise ratio of a station. For certain aspects, the station transmitting the per-tone SNR may be a single user (SU)-capable device. For certain aspects, the station may indicate to the access point whether or not it has a maximum likelihood (ML) receiver.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to systems, devices, and methods for communicating over a plurality of tones and spatial streams. Modulation symbols may be mapped to tones and spatial streams so as to increase frequency and/or spatial diversity without substantially increasing latency. For certain aspects, this interleaving approach may be performed on low-density parity-check (LDPC) codewords.
Abstract:
In a downlink multi-user multiple input multiple output (DL MU-MIMO) system, channel state information (CSI) feedback duration may strongly affect media access control (MAC) efficiency. While a time domain compression may give a significant reduction in feedback duration, the time domain compression may have complexity issues at the station (STA). In particular, for time domain compression, a large complex matrix multiplication may be required at the client to estimate a cyclic prefix (CP) length impulse response, which best models the frequency response of the channel. Embodiments of the invention comprise a hybrid scheme that may reduce the above complexity while maintaining significant compression gains.
