Abstract:
A method, apparatus and computer readable medium for an RTS/CTS system that utilizes a plurality of channels for data transfer, includes sending, by a first device, an RTS frame over the plurality of channels; receiving, by a second device, the RTS frame and outputting a CTS frame to the first device based on receipt of the RTS frame, the CTS frame being output over at least one of the plurality of channels; setting, by each device within a network that receives the RTS frame, a network allocation vector (NAV) to a time duration that is based in part on information included in the RTS frame; and transmitting, by the first device, data to the second device within the time duration set by the NAV using the at least one of the plurality of channels.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure propose computer-program products for discovery of source or sink devices and their capabilities, prior to establishing a link such as a tunneled direct link setup (TDLS) link. The established link may be used for different applications such as Wi-Fi Display session with the desired source or sink device. The proposed computer-program product may also be applied to devices that utilize peer to peer communication.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques and apparatus for using channel state information (CSI) feedback for multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) transmission. For certain aspects, a method of wireless communications generally includes generating a training frame and transmitting the generated training frame. The training frame typically includes first information identifying a group of one or more apparatuses and second information indicating whether each of the apparatuses in the group is to determine at least one characteristic of a channel. For other aspects, a method of wireless communications generally includes receiving a request at an apparatus and transmitting, in response to the received request, a packet using frame aggregation, wherein two or more frames are transmitted in a single transmission using a single header.
Abstract:
Apparatuses and methods for medium reservation in the case of multi-user (MU) communications. Multiple mechanisms are supported for protecting MU transmissions, wherein appropriate control messages can be exchanged between an access point and served user stations before transmitting downlink data packets. In particular an apparatus (1202) for wireless communications, comprising: a transmitter configured to transmit a confirmation message (1206) announcing reservation of a medium for data communication during a time period, wherein the transmitter is also configured to transmit, subsequent to the transmission of confirmation message, data (1208) over the medium simultaneously to a plurality of apparatuses (1204 1-3 ) during the time period.
Abstract:
A communication device for enabling phase tracking is described. The communication device includes a processor and instructions stored in memory. The communication device generates a plurality of pilot symbols. The pilot symbols conform to a rank-deficient pilot mapping matrix. The communication device also transmits the plurality of pilot symbols.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide a method for performing interference suppression in spatial division multiple access (SDMA) systems. When the number of receive antennas of a receiver is equal or larger than the number of spatial streams intended for the receiver, the receiver may perform interference suppression on the signals received on all of its antennas. In addition, certain aspects of the present disclosure present a flexible SDMA technique in which a plurality of channel estimates that may be received from an explicit feedback or estimated implicitly, are combined. The combined channel estimate may be used in calculating the SDMA weights.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to a technique for generating 40+40 MHz and 40+40+40+40 MHz transmission modes for IEEE 802.11 wireless communications systems using Very High Throughput (VHT) waveforms with application to Television White Space (TVWS) spectrum.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present disclosure provide techniques for reducing power consumption by wireless devices through transmission output power control. In an effort to avoid becoming a hidden node (meaning other devices in the network may not be able to detect the transmissions and may thus communicate in an interfering manner) for client devices and neighbouring access points, a client device may employ certain mechanisms prior to reduced power transmissions. A client device may transmit certain transmissions at full transmit power to "protect" subsequent data transmissions transmitted at reduced power. A client device may also evaluate the likelihood of becoming a hidden node and, while the likelihood is relatively low, the device may send all transmissions at reduced power.
Abstract:
A method of operating a first wireless device includes sending a first message including a first intent to be a group owner and a value to a second wireless device. In addition, the method includes receiving a second message including a second intent to be the group owner from the second wireless device. Furthermore, the method includes determining which of the first wireless device or the second wireless device should be the group owner based on the first intent, the second intent, and the value.
Abstract:
Access point AP sends a training request message to multiple users of the network. Each user responds with a sounding frame sent in a serial manner. The AP calculates frequency correction information for each user and communicates this information back to the users. The users then apply this correction information on UL MIMO transmissions.
