Abstract:
A method for producing a duct from a planar board having two opposed substantially parallel edges with metal foil facings on opposed major surfaces of the board is disclosed. The method comprises making planar cuts through one of the metal foil facings and at least most of the planar board there below to produce a blank with 3 parallel "V shaped grooves which are parallel to angled edges of the blank. A duct is formed by folding the blank so that the "V" shaped grooves form three of the edges of the duct, and the angled edges form the fourth of the edges.

The method comprises making planar cuts through one of the metal foil facings and at least most of the planar board therebelow to produce a blank with 3 parallel "V" shaped grooves which are parallel to angled edges of the blank. The walls which are adjacent the "V" shaped grooves intersect one another at an angle of substantially 90 degrees, and a plane which intersects the bottom of one of the angled edges of the blank and is parallel to the opposed angled edge of the blank forms an angle of substantially 90 degrees with the wall it intersects. Finally, a duct is formed by folding the blank so that the "V" shaped grooves form three of the edges of the duct, and the angled edges form the fourth of the edges. Apparatus in which the method is practiced is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A clad duct comprising an outer sheet of thermoplastic material and an inner duct of rigid foam is disclosed. The outer sheet of thermoplastic material is bonded to the inner duct and first and second edges of the outer sheet are sealed. A method for producing clad duct from a laminate is also disclosed. The laminate is a sheet of thermoplastic material bonded to an insulative foam board. V -shaped grooves are formed-in the foam board, opposite the sheet.

Abstract:
A duct pre-form configured for forming a section of curved duct is provided. The duct pre-form includes a layer of foam insulative material. The layer of foam insulative material has a first and second major side. A first facing layer is attached to the first major side of the foam insulative material. A second facing layer is attached to the second major side of the foam insulative material. A plurality of depressions is formed in one of the major sides of the layer of foam insulative material and one of the first or second facing layers. The plurality of depressions is formed without breaking, tearing, ripping or otherwise marring the continuity of the first or second facing layers.
