Abstract: A ceramic coating is provided on the outer surface of a honeycomb body by applying a first layer of coating material comprising a ceramic or ceramic-forming component to the outer surface, subjecting at least part of the first layer to at least partial curing, and then adding one or more additional layers of coating material comprising a ceramic or ceramic-forming component over the previously applied and cured layer(s).
