Abstract:
When using unstable processing solutions, high recirculation and/or replenishment rates may be required. However, when replenisher is added to a processing tank, a noticeable drop in the temperature of the processing solution may occur. Such a drop in temperature may lead to variable photographic sensitometry of the material being processed. Described herein is apparatus in which temperature control means (28) are provided to ensure that the temperature of the solution being added to the processing tank does not produce such a temperature drop.
Abstract:
A low volume thin tank photographing apparatus includes a tank (1) having a narrow passage (2) through which imagewise photographic material (5) to be processed is passed. At the inlet (7) of the tank (1) a reservoir (7) for photographic processing solution (8) is provided. Solution is circulated in a circuit (14) between inlets (9, 10), and outlets (11, 12).

Abstract:
It is known to apply processing solution to photographic material using a high speed moving surface. High speed rotating drums have been used to transfer processing solution from a reservoir to the material. Horizontal belts are also known. However, such arrangements require large volumes of processing solution in order to operate effectively. Described herein is a processor (1) comprising a vertically mounted high speed belt (10) which both transfers processing solution (26) from a reservoir (20) onto photographic paper being processed, and provides agitation at the paper surface. Two transport belts (30, 32) are provided, one on either side of the belt (10) to assist in the transport of paper through the apparatus. An arrangement according to the invention has the advantages that only low volumes of processing solutions are required, good surface agitation is provided, and it can be fitted into conventional photographic processing apparatus.
Abstract:
A method of photographic processing employing a redox amplification solution containing hydrogen peroxide wherein the hydrogen peroxide is provided by the addition of a controlled weight of a solid compound which provides free hydrogen peroxide on dissolution in the amplifying solution and wherein the processing temperature is below 50 DEG C.
Abstract:
In photographic processing apparatus in which continuous processing is carried out in a tank having a low volume, it is difficult to obtain sufficient agitation of the processing solution. This problem arises because processing solution adheres to the emulsion surface of the material being processed, and access of fresh processing solution to the emulsion surface is restricted in the narrow confines of the tank. Described herein is an arrangement in which the agitation of the solution is improved. The arrangement includes an element (16) which is positioned over a feed slot (18) through which processing solution enters the tank (10). The element (16) serves to keep the emulsion surface (26) of the material (24) being processed away from the tank wall (14) and allows access of processing solution to the emulsion surface.
Abstract:
A method of photographic colour processing which comprises a bleach step wherein the bleach solution comprises hydrogen peroxide, or a compound which releases hydrogen peroxide, and halide ions and which has a pH in the range of 5 to 11 and bleach solutions therefor.
Abstract:
When using unstable processing solutions, high recirculation and/or replenishment rates may be required. However, this may result in non-uniform processing of photographic material in processing apparatus using such solutions. Described herein is apparatus in which agitation members (17) are provided in the processing tank. The members (17) are fixed to a wall (11) of the tank at a location (18). The member (17) has a free end (25) which is positioned to lie against emulsion surface (26) of material (20) being processed (or against inner wall surface (19) if no material (20) is present). As material (20) is moved along path (13), agitation of the processing solution is achieved as some of the solution is carried along under the member (17) and the remainder passes through the member (17) itself.
