Abstract:
A system and method for delivering safety and security information that includes at least one event monitor. Each event monitor has an output. The system also includes apparatus for predetermining criteria for sorting the outputs of respective event monitors, apparatus for predetermining the format of a message related to respective events, apparatus for receiving the respective outputs of each of the event monitors and apparatus for sorting the outputs, based on the predetermining criteria for sorting the outputs, into categories related to distinct channels of communication, in addition to apparatus for delivering messages based on the predetermining criteria and predetermined format. In some forms the invention the apparatus for predetermining criteria for sorting the outputs of respective event monitors includes a web site accessible by an end-user. Similarly, the apparatus for predetermining the format of a message includes a web site accessible by an end user. The web site may be accessible only with a predetermined username and password.
Abstract:
A monitoring receiver for transmitting to a remote receiving device a notification message based upon an alert triggering event and a method of configuring the monitoring receiver to transmit the notification message are disclosed.
Abstract:
A security system which includes at least a first sensor, an alarm panel(8) including a control system and programmable apparatus, a connection between the at least one sensor and set alarm panel, a keypad assembly including a camera(20), and a connection between the keypad assembly and the alarm panel. In various embodiments of the invention the camera includes a CMOS image sensor, the camera produces digital images, the camera tracks the user of the keypad assembly, the camera is remotely controllable from the alarm panel to focus on an object of interest, and/or the camera is remotely controllable from a central monitoring station to focus on an object of interest.
Abstract:
An error condition, fault, defect, obstruction, or defective arrangement of viewing angle is determined in a target security device, such as a motion sensor. A plurality of times a fault is detected in a first security device arranged to sense activity in a first zone, the target security device being arranged to sense activity in a second zone overlapping with the first zone; and the error condition may be determined in the target security device when fault in the target security device is not detected for the plurality of times. The second zone may overlap substantially all of the first zone. The first security device may be a door security sensor, a gate security sensor, a keypad or a motion detector. When the first security device is a keypad or user interface, the fault may be an arm or disarm command or an arm/disarm command cycle.
Abstract:
A monitoring receiver having a memory, a control section, a counter and transmitting and receiving section. An operator can input a blocking time period, blocking criteria and a blocking threshold into the receiver. The control section causes a comparator to compare the blocking threshold with a counted number of times a local security systems contacted the monitoring receiver. The monitoring receiver blocks the transmissions when the counted number exceeds one of the blocking threshold values. The monitoring receiver generates a list of all local security systems that are being blocked which is stored in memory and transmitted to an automation system or a remote computer.
Abstract:
A method and system used by a central monitoring station (200) to monitor and control a local installed security system (100). The method includes programming into a receiver (210) and identifier for a local security system (100) to be captured and controlled. Programming a control instruction for the local installed system (100) into a receiver (210). Transmitting the control instruction to a local security system (100). The method and apparatus allows a central monitoring station (200) to obtain control of an installed security system (100) even in the case where ownership of the security system (100) has changed hands and the identification number has changed. The apparatus includes a plurality of receivers and transmitters (210) for transmitting information between the central monitoring station (200) and a plurality of installed security systems (100), an automation computer (220) for processing received messages form the installed security systems (100), and a configuration computer (230) that configures and controls the installed local security systems (100).

Abstract:
A monitoring system apparatus used for monitoring a plurality of diagnostic statistics for a plurality of monitoring receivers. All of the monitoring receivers can be linked together. Each monitoring receiver can be programmed to transmit at least one diagnostic statistic to a selected master receiver at a fixed or variable schedule. The master receiver will generate a report according to the pre-programmed parameters . The report can be printed on a printer or sent to at least one computer that is connected to the master receiver.
