Abstract: An apparatus is presented for determining a body core temperature from temperature measurements taken by a device that is configured to be brought into skin contact and that is associated with at least one device parameter indicative of a thermal device characteristic. The apparatus is configured to determine a series of temperature measurements taken between a first point in time when or after the device is brought into skin contact and a second point in time before or when a substantially constant temperature is measured, wherein the temperature measurements have been taken at associated measurement times. The apparatus is further configured to determine the body core temperature at least from the series of temperature measurements, the associated measurement times and the at least one device parameter.
