Abstract: A hand trolley (1) of the type having a chassis formed from side frames comprising parallel frame members (6, 7), wheels (4) and a base platform (5), provided with a load lifting carriage (9) having a lifting surface (12). The carriage (9) can be raised from a low position on the base platform (5) to an elevated position by operating a hand cranked winch (20) with a crank handle (21) rotatable about an axle (22) located proximate to a hand grip on the chassis rails and parallel to the axis of the wheels (4). The positioning and orientation of the crank handle (21) allows correct ergonomic use by an operator (24) who can grip the trolley chassis with one hand (25) while controlling and operating the crank handle (21) in an ergonomically sound position.
