    Abstract: This invention relates to a cylinder with a built-in stroke sensor which is mounted to machine and equipment used in a rigorous environment, such as construction equipment. The cylinder of this invention minimizes a storage space for the stroke sensor and facilitates inspection/replacement of the stroke sensor. To this end, an eccentric member 8 is fitted to the tip of a sensor rod (6) and this member is equipped at its center with recessed portion (10, 11) which is coaxial with the sensor rod (6) and at its tip with projecting or recessed portion (9a, 9b) supported pivotally by recessed or projecting portion (3a, 3b) disposed at the center of the end surface of the rod head (3). A ring-like member (4) that engages with the recessed portion (10, 11) of the eccentric member 8 is fitted into the hollow portion of the piston rod (2).
