Abstract: Pipes (40) of a predetermined length are filled with a nitrogen gas (4a). Cross-sectionally hat-shaped plugs (50) comprising a brazing filler metal are press fitted in open ends of joint portions (42, 42) at both ends of the pipes (40) so as to seal the pipes (40), whereby the plugs (50) are fixed to the joint portions (42, 42). One side portion of a connecting piece (60) is then inserted into the joint portion (42) of one pipe (40) by breaking the relative plug (50) thereby, while the other side portion of the connecting piece (60) is inserted into the joint portion (42) of the other pipe (40) by breaking the relative plug (50) thereby. The plugs (50) are then melted to braze the joint portions (42) of the pipes (40) and the connecting piece (60) to each other.
