Abstract: A light emitting composition includes a light-emitting iridium-functionalized nanoparticle, such as an organic-inorganic light-emitting iridium-functionalized nanoparticle. A light emitting device includes an anode, a cathode, and a layer containing such a light-emitting composition. In an embodiment, the light emitting device can emit white light.

Abstract: Disclosed is a birefringent film containing an ester polymer having high solubility. The birefringent film has a high birefringence ?nxz (= nx - nz) in the thickness direction. The ester polymer used in this invention comprises at least a repeating unit represented by formula (I), wherein A and B independently represent a substituent substituting a stilbene group, namely a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group having 1-6 carbon atoms, or a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group; a and b represent the respective numbers of substitution of A and B, which is independently an integer of 0-4; R1 represents a hydrogen atom, a linear or branched alkyl group having 1-10 carbon atoms, or a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group; R2 represents a linear or branched alkyl group having 2-10 carbon atoms; R3-R6 independently represent a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a linear or branched alkyl group having 1-6 carbon atoms, or a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group; and n represents an integer of not less than 2.
