Abstract: Cytotoxic compounds isolated and purified from a marine cyanobacterium Lyngbya majuscula are disclosed. The specific compounds are termed "Curacin A", "Curacin B", and "Curacin C" along with semi-synthetic isomers and variants termed "Curacin D" and "15,16-dihydrocuracin A". The compounds exhibit substantial biological activity against proliferating cells, and appear to be antimitotics. Methods for using the compounds are also disclosed. The active portions of these molecules appear to comprise at least the thiazoline ring and two alkyl groups appended to separate portions of the ring, including a short (C1 - C6) alkyl group, with or without rings or double bonds, and a long (C8 - C22) alkyl group, with or without double bonds or other lipophilic moieties.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method for preparing a supported metal alloy catalyst for low temperature engine exhaust oxidation without CO or NO inhibition. The catalyst includes bimetallic PdCu alloy deposited on a SiO2 support using the strong electrostatic adsorption method. The PdCu catalyst may be combined with a traditional PGM-based automotive oxidation catalyst in a series or dual-bed configuration. The first stage of the dual-bed system includes the PdCu catalyst, with the primary role of oxidizing CO at low temperature; the PGM-based catalyst in the second stage then oxidizes NO and hydrocarbons in the absence of any CO-inhibition effects.

Abstract: According to examples, an apparatus may include a processor and a memory, in which the processor may determine calibration parameters of a first image capture device and a second image capture device. The processor may assemble measurement scenes of images of a calibration surface through application of the determined calibration parameters on the measurement scenes, in which the first image capture device and the second image capture device may have captured the measurement scenes. The processor may also determine whether an error exists in the image of the calibration surface and, based on a determination that an error exists, determine a modification to the assembled measurement scene that results in a reduction in the error. The processor may further store the modification and the modification may be applied to future assembled measurement scenes.

Abstract: Embodiments of a composition comprising a photosensitive compound and a polymer nanoparticle are disclosed herein. The composition may further comprise a targeting moiety. In some embodiments, the photosensitive compound is a phthalocyanine or phthalocyanine derivative, such as a naphthalocyanine. Upon irradiation with near infrared light, the composition may be used as a fluorescent imaging agent and/or as a phototherapeutic agent, such as for photodynamic and/or photothermal therapies. In certain embodiments, the composition is used to treat certain cancers.
