摘要: Described herein are systems and methods for delivering catalyst to a reaction vessel. The methods include the use of a positive displacement reciprocating piston system having a catalyst delivery housing that contains a piston system. The piston system includes a top section, a bottom section, and a catalyst holding space between the top and bottom section such that the piston system is movable between a first and a second position to inject catalyst from the catalyst holding space into the reaction vessel when the piston system is in the second position and fill the catalyst holding space with catalyst from a catalyst feed supply when the piston system is in the first position.

摘要: Processes for controlling temperature in polymerization reactions are described as including a monomer recovery system. Monomer vapor is removed from pressurized head space of a horizontally disposed reaction vessel, condensed to a liquid and recycled back to the polymerization reaction in multiple streams that are fed to the reactor at multiple introduction points. The introduction feed points of recycle monomer can be spaced along the horizontal reactor to inject cool liquid monomer to allow for control of the temperature, pressure and viscosity of the mixture in the reaction chamber of the reactor.

摘要: Processes for carrying out a bulk polymerization are described as including the combination of an organic solvent with a polymerization mixture discharged from a polymerization vessel to extend the polymerization reaction downstream of the vessel. Organic solvent is mixed with the discharged polymerization mixture to form a diluted reaction mixture for increasing conversion of unreacted monomer discharged from the polymerization vessel. The additional organic solvent added can provide temperature control as the diluted reaction mixture is transferred. The organic solvent can be added at various introduction points downstream of the outlet of the polymerization vessel.
