Abstract: A switch is disclosed for activating a device in a vehicle. The switch includes a detector portion for operable engagement by a user, a circuit portion in communication with the detector portion and the device. The detector portion and the circuit portion are configured to activate the device between a first state and a second state in a manner that is substantially free of a moving mechanical component. A system for activating a device in a vehicle is also disclosed. The system includes at least one sensor to detect a change in a signal, a circuit to receive an input from the sensor when the change is detected and to activate the device in a first state and a second state. The sensor and the circuit are operably engaged to activate the device substantially free of movement of a mechanical component when the change is provided by a user.
