Abstract:
The present disclosure is directed to an aerosol delivery device and a holder for use with a removable substrate cartridge. In one implementation, the holder includes a main body defining a proximal end and a distal end, the main body further providing an aerosol passageway that extends through at least a portion of the main body, and a heat sink portion. At least part of the receiving chamber is located in the heat sink portion, and the heat sink portion is configured to dissipate heat from a substrate cartridge. Some implementations further include a cartridge retention assembly and a sliding assembly. The sliding assembly is configured to slide relative to the main body to and from at least a loading position, wherein the cartridge retention assembly is configured to receive a substrate cartridge, and a use position, wherein the cartridge retention assembly is configured to retain a substrate cartridge.
Abstract:
An apparatus adapted to examine a paper web includes a rotatable first bobbin, a rotatable second bobbin, and a first testing device. The first bobbin has a paper we wound thereabout that has transverse bands spaced apart along a length thereof. The second bobbin is arranged to receive the paper web from the first bobbin with a paper web path defined between the first and second bobbins. The first testing device is disposed along the paper web path and is arranged to nondestructively measure a diffusivity of one of the transverse bands of the paper web.
Abstract:
The present disclosure is directed to an aerosol delivery device and a holder for use with a removable substrate cartridge. In one implementation, the holder may include a main body having a mouthend and a rotating end portion. The main body may define a receiving compartment configured to receive at least a portion of the cartridge proximate a distal end of the main body. The main body may further define an aerosol passage extending from the receiving portion through the mouthend. The rotating end portion may be configured to rotate to and from an open position, in which the rotating end portion is turned outward so as to provide access to the receiving compartment, and a use position, in which the rotating end portion is turned inward so as to cover the heat source of an inserted cartridge.
Abstract:
The present disclosure is directed to an aerosol delivery device and a holder for use with a removable substrate cartridge. In one implementation, the holder may include a main body and a sleeve. The main body may define a receiving portion configured to receive at least a portion of a cartridge, and an aerosol passage extending from the receiving portion, through the main body, and through a first end thereof. The sleeve may comprise a substantially solid sleeve wall disposed around at least a portion of the main body and may be configured to slide relative to the main body to and from an open position, wherein the distal end of the sleeve is positioned proximate the receiving portion of the main body, and a use position, wherein the distal end is positioned away from the receiving portion of the main body.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides an aerosol source member, a substrate portion, and a method of creating a substrate portion for use in an aerosol source member. In an example implementation, a substrate portion of the present disclosure may comprise a series of overlapping layers of a composite substrate sheet, wherein the composite substrate sheet may comprise a non-woven web at least partially formed from regenerated cellulose fibers, a plurality of conductive threads integrated into the non-woven web, and a coating that includes a fibrous material and an aerosol precursor composition.
Abstract:
The present disclosure is directed to a smoking article that comprises a holder and a removable cartridge. The cartridge is configured to be received at a receiving end of the holder and comprises a heat source configured to generate heat, and a substrate portion including a substrate material having an aerosol precursor composition associated therewith. The holder also includes an ejection mechanism configured to move the cartridge relative to the holder between a received position and an ejected position. In one implementation, the ejection mechanism comprises a pusher pin, a guide ring, a carrier sleeve, and a spring, wherein the cartridge is configured to be received into the carrier sleeve, and wherein the pusher pin is configured to move relative to the guide ring so as to actuate the carrier sleeve alternately between the received position and the ejected position.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for monitoring use of a tobacco product by a subject, the method comprising providing the tobacco product to the subject and, at one or more times after providing the tobacco product, collecting a sample of exhaled breath from the subject and subjecting the collected sample to analysis to determine amount and/or concentration of a marker, wherein the amount and/or concentration of the marker is related to use of the tobacco product by the subject.
Abstract:
Provided herein is a cigarette pack formed of a moisture barrier coated paper material. The paper material includes a base substrate, a first polymer coating, a second polymer coating, and a third polymer coating. The first polymer coating, the second polymer coating, and the third polymer coating provide a barrier for moisture and air exchange through the paper material. The first polymer coating, the second polymer coating, and the third polymer coating also provide heat and pressure sealability capabilities to the paper material.
Abstract:
A system for a tobacco curing barn is capable of collecting tobacco-derived moisture from tobacco while that tobacco is cured. The system incorporates a tobacco curing barn or other type of curing enclosure, such as bulk curing barn used for the flue- curing of tobacco. The curing barn is equipped with at least one reclamation element configured to condense and collect moisture released from tobacco cured within the barn. The reclamation element is disposed in proximity with the enclosure in a manner and location providing passage of moist air released from the tobacco across a surface of the reclamation element. The system also includes at least one storage container disposed in fluid communication with the reclamation element surface and configured to store moisture and moisture -borne material collected by the reclamation element. The resulting tobacco-derived components can be blended with other tobacco materials, such as is common practice during tobacco reordering.
Abstract:
A method is provided for manufacturing a filter of a filtered smoking article, where the filter material includes a fluid-releasing body. The method provides a fluid-resistant barrier between the filter material and plug wrap encompassing the filter material, where the barrier is applied as a hot melt adhesive. In other aspects, mechanisms for using the method are provided.
