Abstract: The present invention is directed to semiautomatic pistols with partially internalized recoil. In an aspect of the invention, the semiautomatic pistol allows for the shooter's grip to be aligned closer to the center-axis of the barrel so that the recoil force is substantially in line with the shooter's grip, thereby reducing and/or preventing muzzle flip. In another aspect of the invention, the semiautomatic pistol is configured to translate the linear recoil movement into rotational movement, which allows internalized recoil.
