Abstract: An ultrasonic system (200) and method for cutting soft material (108) has an ultrasonic transducer (102) that vibrates axially at least one horn blade (206, 406, 506, 606) having a serrated edge (212, 412, 512, 612) so that when the horn blade is moved into the food product being cut, it is vibrating in a direction in and out of the food product to make a plunge cut.
