Abstract: A kit of parts comprises at least one balloon of elastomeric material (31 - 35), a pack of sheet material having a main leaf (14) and at least one adjoining leaf (1 1 - 13) delimited by a fold line, such that the balloon or balloons (31 - 35) are enclosed between the main leaf (14) and the folded over adjoining leaf or leaves (1 1 - 13) for packaging and presentation at point of sale, and at least one patch (21 - 25) carried as a peelable patch on one surface of the pack. The or each patch (21 - 25) has its peelable surface provided with adhesive means and has an opening in a generally central region so that it may be removed from the pack and affixed to the balloon or one of the balloons after inflation to enable safe deflation. In this respect the patch should be fixed to the exterior of the balloon by pressing its adhesive peelable surface into contact with the exterior of the balloon so that it adheres to the balloon, and the balloon should then be punctured at a location inside the opening defined by the patch.

Abstract: An illumination device for mounting inside a balloon comprising a light source, such as LED (20), and a battery power source (not shown, but in chamber (1 1 )) for the light source, both mounted within a housing (10). The housing (10) is formed of plastics material and it may be formed by two mating sections (10A, 10B) which are hingedly connected to each other. Further, this housing (10) includes an integrally formed spring element portion (25) which is configured and arranged to hold at least one of the connector members (22, 24) of the light source (20) and/or the battery power source under spring bias to maintain contact there between. This speeds assembly of a reliably operating device.

Abstract: In respect of a balloon (10) having an illumination device (20), including a light emitting member, which is mounted onto the wall inside the balloon cavity, at least one sheet (22, 24) of flexible material is connected to the illumination device inside the balloon cavity to serve as a parachute for the illumination device (20) in the event of rupture of the wall of the balloon when in an inflated condition. Abstract: An illumination device for mounting inside a balloon comprises a light source, such as LED (20), and a battery power source (31, 32) for the light source, both mounted in a housing (10A, 10B). The housing is provided as an inner part (12) of a first plastics material in which the battery power source (31, 32) is housed and an outer casing (14) of a second plastics material, which at least partially surrounds the inner part (12) and provides a cover for the light source (20). The second plastics material is transparent and resiliency deformable and may be a thermoplastics elastomer. In preferred embodiments the housing is provided as a one-piece unit which is a co-moulding of the first plastics material and the second plastics material, and which is provided as two mating sections (10A, 10B) hingedly connected to each other.
