Abstract:
Embodiments of the inventive technology may be coupler apparatus such as pivot couplers (18) at may couple a non-horizontal item support rail to a rail (20) to a rail support leg (21) and that may enable rotatable motion of a coupled rail about a substantially vertical axis (13); rail may be coupled at an angle other than ninety degrees. Couplers may include compression elements (28) that may establish a cable channel adapted to direct one or more cables in a desired manner, such as to within the interior of a coupled rail at n end of that rail. The coupler apparatus may have an application in support stands such as musical instrument (e.g., drum) support apparatus.
Abstract:
Inventive musical instrument support apparatus and methods relative to independently inventive aspects of support technology. One aspect of the inventive technology may be directed to a collapsible musical instrument stand such as a guitar stand that includes a support element that exhibits an enhanced low profile in a retracted mode. Another aspect of the invention may focus on provision of the capability of simultaneous deployment and retraction of an assembly of multiple musical instrument supports upon reconfiguration of only one of the supports. Inventive musical instrument support stands may include either or both of the individually inventive aspects.
Abstract:
The inventive technology may retate to a retention apparatus (1) that in at least one embodiment comprises a compression sleeve element (2) established at least partially 5 around portions of a first elongated member (6) that telescopes from a larger elongated member (8) in which it may nest. A relative motion obstruction element (4) may disallow only certain types of motion, e.g., rotational and axial, of the compression sleeve element relative to the elongated members around which it may be at least partially established. As it instead may be the compression enhancement element (3) - which may be used to 10 generate a retaining compression force element - that prevents perpendicular displacement of the compression sleeve element, deactivation and effective disengagement of the compression enhancement element may allow for a quick removal of the compression sleeve element without requiring that it be slid off an end of either elongated member.
Abstract:
A reducible support system for supporting various items is presented in various embodiments. A reducible support structure (10) may comprise an operation element (16) which may be attached to an orthogonal element (14). Limbs, preferably a tripod may be attached to the operation element (16) and a plug element (24) may provide a slide so that the limbs or tripod may open and collapse easily.
Abstract:
A safety clutch mechanism (10) for use with utility tripods having telescopically extensible members, such that a single member may be extended a distance and maintained at that distance under an opposing load force. The disclosed clutch device being further capable of allowing continuous, smooth, and controlled compression of the telescoping members in a fashion conducive to increased safety for the operator. By permitting single hand operation, the clutch mechanism reduces the labor intensive task suitable for a single person to operate multiple devices in compression. The clutch mechanism also permits the setting of a desired compression rate automatically. This is accomplished by incrementally reducing the frictional engagement force of the locking mechanism so that it is slightly less than the gravity induced force on the opposing load. Further differentiation of the two forces, in favor of the gravity force, will increase the compression rate. The removal of any load without undesirable extension is accomplished through use of a locking tab which may be frictionally engaged with the extensible feature to prevent such extension while an upward force is applied to the load. Componentized features of the clutch mechanism allow maintenance of the entire device without discarding functional components because of the risk of reduced safety due to damaged components.
Abstract:
A collapsible musical instrument stand is described which is light-weight and portable. The stand includes an upright spine (12) with spaced-apart legs (12A, 12B). A yoke member (14) is pivotably attached to the upper end of the spine. A brace (16) is attached between the legs and is pivotable between open and closed positions.
Abstract:
A device and method of clamping bicycles in a mouth (6) having a moveable jaw (8) and a stationary jaw (7) to which a high load potential may be utilized within a toggle joint (18) and ratchet mechanism (14) and a release (12) may be triggered to open a mouth in a quick movement(s). In embodiments, a multisized object securement grip (9) may be located on a contact surface of a moveable jaw and stationary jaw to allow for universal gripping of various sized objects.
Abstract:
At least one embodiment of the inventive technology may be a support apparatus that includes at least two item support rails supported by support legs coupled thereto by pivot coupler apparatus that enable rotatable motion of a coupled support rail about a substantially vertical axis, where at least one of the item support rails is a non-horizontal item support rail. In certain embodiments, the couplers may be height adjust couplers that enable substantially purely vertical, translatory height adjustment of coupled support rails and/or the couplers may couple item support rails to rail support legs at an angle other than ninety degrees. Items that may be supported include but are not limited to percussion instruments.
Abstract:
Apparatus for and associated methods of controlling movement of a microphone that may be held in some manner y a microphone support boom (52) are disclosed. More specifically, the invention focuses upon novel techniques for isolating yaw of a microphone support boom from the microphone stand that may provide a majority of the height required for a desired microphone spatial positioning. The invention also focuses on apparatus that may be used achieve preferential isolation of microphone support boom yaw with respect to motion in any other microphone support boob degree of freedom. A specific type of apparatus that may be used to achieve this preferential isolation the double conical clutch-is also an aspect of the inventive technology.
