Abstract: On each side of the frame of the machine (1) there is provided a clamping unit (2) to tighten the piece of which both sides are to be machined. A puppet head (5) is movable, either on the clamping unit or on the frame (1). In either case, both the puppet head and the clamping unit may be alternatively locked on the frame. The puppet head and the clamping block are connected by a ball threaded spindle (8) driven by a direct current motor (10). A microprocessor controls the motor (10) for the driving of the threaded spindle (8) as well as, alternatively, the locking and unlocking of the puppet head and the clamping block. The ball threaded spindle (8) allows on one hand the rapid feed from one work position to another of the puppet head and the clamping unit and, on the other hand, the slow feed for the machining. During these operations, the unlocked part is shifted with respect to the locked part.
