Abstract:
The invention concerns a hood (1) comprising a thin, light and frangible outer layer (5), which is plastically deformed or breaks rapidly in case of skull impact thereby enabling part of the impact energy to be dispersed. Beneath said outer layer, is provided a thicker layer (4) of light damping material having a low modulus of elasticity and a high plateau of plasticity designed for optimal deceleration of the head. The hood is preferably divided into two zones (7, 8) specifically optimized for a child and an adult. The hood can also comprise an inner layer (6) breakable upon contact with the engine unit. The invention is of particular interest to manufacturers of road motor vehicles and of accessories for said vehicles.
Abstract:
The invention concerns an active safety device (1) designed to reduce the impact of the windscreen (3) of a road motor vehicle (2) in case of collision with a pedestrian. Said device is coupled to a device detecting impacts (5) by contact or remotely. It comprises a flexible damping protective plate (9), stowed beneath the hood (10) of the vehicle in retracted inactive position in normal running condition, and rapidly ejected from said position and installed on the windscreen in extended safety position in case of detection or prediction of an impact by the detection device. The invention is of particular interest to manufacturers of road motor vehicles and of accessories for said vehicles.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an optical sensor (1) which can be used to detect, unambiguously and with high resolution, the absolute angular position over a full revolution, the number of revolutions performed and the direction of rotation of the rotating object independently of the speed of rotation. The inventive sensor comprises: a polarised light source (2) which illuminates a polariser (3) that rotates proportionally to the rotation of the object to be analysed, a detector (19) which captures the intensity of the beam passing through the polariser, and a signal analyser assembly (20). The invention also comprises a means for resolving indeterminacies (23) by generating a second measurement signal that is phase shifted in relation to the first signal, whereby said second phase-shifted signal can coexist with the first signal or replace same periodically. The invention is of interest to manufacturers and users of angular position sensors.
