Abstract:
An imaging system and a device for breast cancer detection are disclosed. The device includes a plurality of antennas arranged to form a polyhedral cup shape against which the breast is pressed. The antennas are mounted flat circuit boards which comprise the antennas and RF transceiver RFICs and are configured to hinge together to form a multichip module. The polyhedral shape allows antennas to be in direct contact with the breast skin without any intermediate medium. This enables dielectric constant of antennas matched with that of the breast skin or tissues thereby reducing reflections from skin-fat boundary.
Abstract:
A compact wideband RF antenna for incorporating into a planar substrate, such as a PCB, having at least one cavity with a radiating slot, and at least one transmission line resonator disposed within a cavity and coupled thereto. Additional embodiments provide stacked slot-coupled cavities and multiple coupled transmission-line resonators placed within a cavity. Applications to ultra-wideband systems and to millimeter-wave systems, as well as to dual and circular polarization antennas are disclosed. Further applications include configurations for an antenna based on a monopole element and having a radiation pattern that is approximately isotropic.
Abstract:
Fall detection systems and methods use radar chips to scan monitored regions such that data obtained by the scanning radar chip are processed to identify targets within the monitored region. Targets are tracked and profiled indicating their posture and fall detection rules are applied. Standard energy profiles and time dependent energy profiles are generated for various segments of the monitored region and compared to the current energy profile for each target segment of the monitored region. Anomalies are detected, false fall alerts filtered out and verified fall alerts are generated.
Abstract:
A system and methods for measuring soil properties characteristics, the system comprising: at least one probe configured to be inserted into the soil, the probe comprising a plurality of antennas; a radio link characterization unit for transmitting a radio signal from at least one of the antennas and receiving a propagated radio signal from at least one of the antennas to yield at least one radio link; and a processor for converting the radio link characteristics into the soil properties characteristics.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for enhanced microwave imaging of an object collects (200) microwave responses for multiple combinations of transmit antennas, receive antennas, and object movement states. The responses are grouped (204) into sets of responses corresponding to at least two object movement states. An image is reconstructed (206) from the set of responses for each movement state, and a differential image representative of object movement is generated (208) from the reconstructed image for each of said at least two object movement states. The differential image is overlaid (210) on a reconstructed image to obtain an enhanced composite image of the object..
Abstract:
Systems and methods for detecting living bodies in vehicles and generating alerts only if a child is detected. A radar detection system uses vehicle vibration, temporal behavior analysis and spatial characteristics modules to detect false positives by analyzing image data over time and space to distinguish between real children and other similar voxel clusters within the radar images.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for detecting angle of a vehicle using a radar including an array of transmitters, transmitting electromagnetic radiation towards surrounding objects, and receivers detecting reflected electromagnetic signals. Received information includes horizontal coordinates and vertical coordinates for each object detected. A pre-processing unit determines stationary and non-stationary state of objects from the received electromagnetic signals. A processing unit receives the coordinates along with motion characteristics of objects and plots each reflected object in the horizontal-vertical plane perpendicular to the direction of motion of the vehicle. A virtual box is constructed corresponding to each of a series of candidate tilt or roll angles. The angle of the virtual box having the largest number of plotted reflections is selected as the angle of the vehicle.
Abstract:
An elevator monitoring system and method includes cabin-based radars monitor doors and passengers within a cabin; waiting zone radars monitor passengers in a waiting zone; a central processor analyzes data from the various monitors and executes an elevator control function to control the elevator system. The door state is determined by detecting reflections from internal angles within the cabin and a door management system manages door operation safely by monitoring a proximal zone around the automatic door, detecting moving objects and obstructions.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for performing body scans to ascertain body measurements of a subject. A radar based scanner may be used to generate a three dimensional image of a subject as a point cloud map of electromagnetic radiation reflected from a target region. The point cloud may be mapped to a parametric model of a standard human shape. The mapping may be optimized by adjusting parameters of the parametric model. The resulting parameters of the optimized model may be used to indicate the body measurements of the scanned subject.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for improving radio frequency integrated circuits. Extended conducting plates having current forming elements are used to equalize return currents from an array of capacitance banks in radio frequency integrated circuits and to reduce crosstalk between crossing signal lines by providing isolation mechanisms for use as a shield between the signal carrying lines. Material encapsulated magneto-electric antennas are configured into antenna arrays on a PCB or a RFIC package. Antenna arrays may comprise antennas having different directivity levels and may have asymmetric arrangement of antenna elements.
