Abstract: The following pharmaceuticals or foods (1) to (3) suitable for the treatment or prevention of gastritis, gastric ulcer and other diseases caused by Helicobacter pylori: (1) a composition, an antimicrobial agent, an infection preventive, and a food against Helicobacter pylori, comprising as the active ingredient a material having an antimicrobial activity against Helicobacter pylori and at least one member selected from the group consisting of free fatty acids, salts thereof, and esters thereof; (2) an antimicrobial agent, an infection preventive, and a food against Helicobacter pylori, comprising as the active ingredient at least one member selected from the group consisting of iron citrate, ammonium iron citrate, sodium ferrous citrate, iron lactate, and ferric pyrophosphate; and (3) an antimicrobial agent and an infection preventive against Helicobacter pylori, comprising as the active ingredient iron citrate and aqueous ammonia.
