Abstract:
A sinus membrane perforation patching material carrying and insertion instrument (10), comprising a central support (12) for a quantity of a sinus membrane patching material and moveable outer supports (14, 16) spaced laterally outward of the central support (12) for laterally supporting and expanding the patching material as it is forced by the central support upward over the sinus perforation to form a relatively thin laterally extending patch sealed to the sinus membrane and closing and sealing the perforation.
Abstract:
An internal sinus procedure for patching a perforation (14) in patient's sinus membrane (12) comprising the steps of (i) creating an opening (10) in the sinus floor (22) of a patient to expose the portion of the sinus membrane including the perforation (14), (ii) inserting a quantity of a sinus membrane patching material (36) through the opening to a location adjacent the sinus perforation (14) and (iii) laterally expanding and forcing the patching material (36) against the sinus membrane (12) to seal the perforation.
Abstract:
A bone graft material packing instrument (10), comprising a longitudinally extending handle (12) and a laterally extending distal head (14) having a downwardly curved upper surface (16) bounded by vertically extending substantially flat sides (18) and a flat horizontally extending lower surface (20).
Abstract:
A sinus bone-breaking instrument (10) comprising a longitudinally extending handle (12) and a relatively small laterally extending distal head (14) designed to fit upward into a bone channel and having a laterally inward and upward inclined lower surface (16) shaped to hook bone fragments in the bone channel and with a downward pulling on the handle to break off the bone fragments leaving the bone channel free of bone fragments.
Abstract:
An internal sinus manipulation procedure for augmenting bone of a dental patient between the floor (16) of the patient' s sinus and a raised portion of the patient's sinus membrane (18) comprising exposing a portion (20) of the patient's sinus membrane (18) immediately adjacent the floor (16) of the patient's sinus followed by (i) a simultaneous and controlled lifting and lateral separation of the exposed portion of the sinus membrane from the sinus floor to form an open pocket (24) between the sinus membrane and the sinus floor, (ii) introduction of a bone grafting material (44) into the pocket (24) and (iii) a compacting of the bone grafting material.
Abstract:
A sinus membrane lifting instrument (10) comprising a longitudinally extending handle portion (12), an angled neck (18) extending longitudinally from a handle portion and a disc-shaped tip (21) extending from the angled neck.
