摘要： Provided are organometallic complexes that can exhibit phosphorescence. One of the novel organometallic complexes is represented by General Formula (G1). In General Formula (G1), R 1 represents any of an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl group having 5 to 8 carbon atoms which may have a substituent, and an aralkyl group having 7 to 10 carbon atoms which may have a substituent. In addition, R 2 represents any of an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl group having 5 to 8 carbon atoms which may have a substituent, and an aryl group having 6 to 12 carbon atoms which may have a substituent. Further, Ar represents an arylene group having 6 to 13 carbon atoms which may have a substituent. Further, M represents a Group 9 element or a Group 10 element.

An organometallic complex in which a 4-arylpyrimidine derivative is a ligand and iridium is a central metal is provided. Specifically, an organometallic complex having a structure represented by a general formula (G1) is provided. In the general formula (G1), R 1 represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms or a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group having 6 to 10 carbon atoms, R 2 represents any of hydrogen, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl group, R 3 represents hydrogen or a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and Ar 1 represents a substituted or unsubstituted arylene group having 6 to 10 carbon atoms.
