Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may communicate with a base station according to a first radio access technology (RAT) in a first frequency range. The UE may perform measurements on a set of candidate cells of a second RAT or a second frequency range based on a determination for the UE to operate according to the second RAT or the second frequency range. The UE may perform a mobility procedure to establish a connection with a first cell of the set of candidate cells based on a determination that a first value of a first measurement parameter for the first cell satisfies a first threshold, and further based on a comparison of a different, second value of a second measurement parameter for the first cell to a second threshold.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to a method and apparatus for communicating on an uplink between a user equipment and a gNB. In one example, the method and apparatus may include a UE waiting for an NPRACH occasion to transmit an NPRACH preamble, the UE monitoring the search space for (C-RNTI) NPDCCP candidates which carry UL grants, the UE aborting the opportunity to send the NPRACH preamble ifthe physical layer UE receives a UL grant, the UE sending UL data to the gNB, and the UE continuing to monitor the search space for valid C-RNTI NPDCCH candidates for DCI grants. Also, in another example, the UE calculates an NPDCCH search space start timing, monitors a RAR window start timing, and receives the RAR ifthe RAR window starts before the next NPDCCH search space.

Abstract: Systems and method for smart measurement scheduling and reporting are disclosed. A user equipment (UE) being served by a cell of a first radio access technology (RAT) network may identify a target cell of another RAT network for rapid redirection based on a fingerprint database and the measurement report of the target cell. In aspects, the UE may trigger redirection to the target cell by reporting a measurement report associated with the target cell typ. The UE determines whether to stay in the current network or to switch over to another network based on traffic type, a scenario or condition, latency requirements, power savings, etc. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.
