Abstract:
The methods of preparing hot melt processable pressure sensitive adhesives include combining an elastomeric (meth)acrylate random copolymer contained within a thermoplastic pouch and greater than 50 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of hot melt processable elastomeric (meth)acrylate random co-polymer of at least one tackifying resin in a hot melt mixing apparatus, and mixing to form a hot melt processable pressure sensitive adhesive. The elastomeric (meth)acrylate random copolymer may contain branching agents and photosensitive crosslinking agents. The hot melt processable pressure sensitive adhesives can be used to prepare transfer tapes.
Abstract:
Crosslinkable compositions, crosslinked compositions, articles containing these compositions, and methods of making the articles are provided. The crosslinkable compositions, which include two (meth)acrylate copolymers plus a tackifier, are used to form the crosslinked compositions upon exposure to ultraviolet radiation. The crosslinked compositions can function as pressure-sensitive adhesives. The crosslinkable compositions are well suited for use with hot melt processing methods.
Abstract:
Adhesives suitable for use with low surface energy materials are described. The adhesive contain an acrylic copolymer, a high glass transition temperature tackifier and a low glass transition temperature tackifier. The acrylic copolymer is the reaction product of a first alkyl(meth)acrylate having at least 5 carbon atoms in the alkyl group, a second alkyl(meth)acrylate having 1 to 4 carbon atoms in the alkyl group, and a vinyl carboxylic acid. Both tackifiers have a Tg greater than the Tg of the acrylic copolymer. The high glass transition temperature tackifier has a Tg of at least 20 °C and the low glass transition temperature tackifier has a Tg of less than 0 °C.
