The second portion includes a material having a local composition or an effective refractive index that varies substantially continuously across the thickness of the second portion. The material includes a plurality of inorganic regions and may further include organic regions. The particle can be made via atomic or molecular layer deposition.

    摘要: A composite article comprises a substrate, base polymer layer, an inorganic barrier layer, and top polymer layer. The base polymer layer is disposed on the substrate, and includes a polymerized reaction product of components comprising at least 60 percent by weight of at least one di(meth)acrylate represented by the formula wherein: each R 1 is independently H or methyl; and each R 2 independently represents an alkyl group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or two R 2 groups may together form an alkylene group having from 2 to 7 carbon atoms. An inorganic barrier layer is bonded to the base polymer layer. The top polymer layer is disposed on the inorganic barrier layer opposite the substrate, wherein the top polymer layer comprises a polymerized reaction product of components comprising at least 60 percent by weight of a cycloaliphatic (meth)acrylate having from 13 to 24 carbon atoms.

    摘要: A multilayer dielectric film including a first dielectric layer made from a material having a first breakdown field strength and a second dielectric layer disposed on the first dielectric layer made from a material having a different breakdown filed strength. A multilayer film including a first electrically conductive layer, the first dielectric layer disposed on the first electrically conductive layer, the second dielectric layer disposed on the first dielectric layer, and a second electrically conductive layer disposed on the second dielectric layer is also disclosed. The first electrically conductive layer can have at least one of an average surface roughness of at least ten nanometers, a thickness of at least ten micrometers, or an average visible light transmission of up to ten percent. The first dielectric layer may be a polymer and typically has a lower dielectric constant than the second dielectric layer, which may be ceramic.

    摘要: The present disclosure provides an article including a layer having a nanostructured first surface including nanofeatures and an opposing second surface, and an inorganic layer including a major surface bonded to a portion of the nanostructured first surface. The nanostructured first surface includes protruding features that are formed of a single composition and/or recessed features. The article includes at least one enclosed void defined in part by the nanostructured first surface. The present disclosure also provides a method of making the article including treating a major surface of an inorganic layer with a coupling agent, contacting a nanostructured surface of a layer with the treated inorganic layer, and securing the two layers together via a bonded coupling agent by bonding at least one of the nanostructured surface or the treated inorganic layer. In addition, the present disclosure provides an optical element including the article. The nanostructured surface of the article is protected from damage and contamination by the inorganic layer.
