    Abstract: A method of making a highly fluorinated polymers and resulting aqueous mixtures. The method comprising polymerizing one or more perfluorinated monomers in an aqueous emulsion polymerization in the presence of a polymerizable fluorinated emulsifier to form a perfluorinated polymer. The polymerizable fluorinated emulsifier has the formula X 2 C=CX(CF 2 ) m (CH 2 ) n [O-(CX 2 ) p ] q -[O-(CX 2 ) r ] s -[O-(CX 2 -CX 2 )] t -[(O) w -(CX 2 ) u ] v -[CH 2 ] z -Y. The method also provides for isolating the highly fluorinated polymer and post-fluorinating the isolated highly fluorinated polymer.

    Abstract: Provided are methods for removing a perfluorinated alkanoic acid from solutions containing the perfluorinated alkanoic acid and a fluorinated alkoxy acid. These methods include contacting the first solution with an anion-exchange resin to produce a second solution and a resultant anion-exchange resin having perfluorinated alkanoic acid adsorbed thereto, wherein the perfluorinated alkanoic acid is present in the first solution at a first concentration and is present in the second solution at a second concentration which is lower than the first concentration, and separating the second solution from the resultant anion-exchange resin.

    Abstract: Curable fluoropolymer containing repeating units derived from VDF and TFE and at least one other fluorinated comonomer and further containing -CF 2 CH 2 I end groups and branching sites derived from one or more perfluorinated bisolefinic ether(s) used as modifier(s), wherein the one or more perfluorinated bisolefinic ether(s) used as modifier(s) correspond to the general formula: CF 2= CF-(CF 2 ) n -O-(R 1 )-O-(CF 2 ) m CF=CF 2 wherein n and m are independent from each other either 1 or 0 and wherein R 1 represents a perfluorinated linear or branched, cyclic or acyclic aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon residue that may be interrupted by one or more oxygen atoms and comprises up to 30 carbon atoms. Further provided are methods of making the curable fluoropolymers and for making an article containing the curable polymers.

    Abstract: Described are methods of making a curable fluoropolymer having repeating units derived from vinylidenfluoride (VDF) and at least one perfluorinated monomer selected from hexafluoropropene (HFP), tetrafluoroethene (TFE), a perfluorovinyl ether (PAVE), a perfluoroallylether (PAAVE) or a combination thereof. The method includes polymerising the monomers in an aqueous medium in a radical reaction containing one or more reaction initiators, one or more chain transfer agent containing one or more halogens selected from iodine, bromine or a combination thereof and one or more non-fluorinated aliphatic polyhydroxy emulsifiers. The polymerization is carried out without adding a fluorinated emulsifier. Also provided are curable fluoropolymers obtainable by such methods and cured fluoropolymers obtainable by curing the curable fluoropolymers, and their applications.

    Abstract: A method for polymerizing, in an aqueous medium, at least one fluorinated monomer in the presence of a non-copolymerizable, non-fluorinated surfactant. The surfactant is generally selected from a non-ionic surfactant, a primary anionic surfactant, or a combination thereof. Fluorinated surfactants are not utilized. The resulting partially fluorinated polymer in the aqueous medium is either a semi-crystalline polymer or a crystalline polymer.
