摘要: Described herein is a method of making a fluoropolymer, the method comprising: providing an aqueous mixture comprising a fluorinated monomer, and an initiator; polymerizing the aqueous mixture under free radical conditions; and adding perfluoromethyl iodide during the polymerization to provide an aqueous dispersion of the fluoropolymer, wherein the amount of perfluorooctanoic acid or salt thereof in the aqueous dispersion of the fluoropolymer is not more than 25 nanograms per gram of the fluoropolymer.

摘要: Described herein is a method of making a curable perfluoroelastomer, wherein the curable perfluoroelastomer comprises particles of a semi crystalline fluoropolymer, wherein the semi crystalline fluoropolymer is a TFE copolymer comprising no more than 1 wt% of at least one additional fluorinated monomer. The method comprises: (a) obtaining an amorphous perfluoropolymer and the particles of the semi crystalline fluoropolymer; and (c) dry blending the amorphous perfluoropolymer and the particles to form a curable perfluoroelastomer.

摘要: Presently described are electronic telecommunication articles comprising core shell fluoropolymers comprising polymerized units of tetrafluoroethylene and no greater than 1 wt.% of polymerized units of comonomer comprising a functional group. The functional groups are typically selected from nitrile, halogen, sulfur oxide, perfluorinated alkyl ether, and carbonyl. The core shell fluoropolymer typically comprises at least 80, 85, 90, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99 wt.% or greater of polymerized units of tetrafluoroethylene. In some embodiments, the core shell fluoropolymer further comprises up to 20 or 25 wt.% of polymerized units of other comonomers, such as hexafluoropropylene (HFP). Also described are methods of making a coated substrate, coated substrates, and core shell fluoropolymers.

摘要: Fluoroelastomers containing at least 25 weight percent perfluorinated thermoplastic fillers are described. The perfluorinated thermoplastic fillers comprise a first perfluorinated thermoplastic filler having a first d50 particle size of 10 to 250 nanometers, and a second perfluorinated thermoplastic filler having a second d50 particle size of 5 to 500 micrometers. The first thermoplastic filler may be obtained from a latex while the second thermoplastic filler may be obtained as a dry powder. Methods of making such materials and cured articles prepared from them are also described.

摘要: The process includes providing an aqueous mixture including perfluorinated monomers, a fluoroalkyl sulfinic acid or salt thereof, and an oxidizing agent capable of oxidizing the fluoroalkyl sulfinic acid or salt thereof and polymerizing the perfluorinated monomers under free radical conditions to provide an aqueous dispersion of the fluoropolymer. The fluoroalkyl group has from one to three carbon atoms. The amount of perfluorooctanoic acid or salt thereof in the aqueous dispersion of the fluoropolymer as polymerized is not more than 25 nanograms per gram of the fluoropolymer. A fluoropolymer made by the process is also described.
